This is considered the main road through Zion National Park, from Springdale it is the route you will take to get to Bryce and the Grand Canyon. This is an amazing section of road with a 1.1 mile tunnel through Navajo Sandstone and some text book examples of sedimentary cross-bedding. There are numerous trail heads and access points off this road for hiking, climbing, and canyoneering. Zion Canyon and HWY 9 is the most visited section of the Park.
Not to be confused with the Kolob Canyons Road. This road runs north from Virgin UT off of State Route HWY 9. It is the only access road into central Zion National Park. It has many attractions but is much less visited than Zion Canyon /HWY 9. The Subway, West Rim, and Wildcat Canyon are just a few of the trails/routes that are accessed with the Kolob Terrace Road. In the summer time it is a great way to beat the heat as the road climbs up to 8500+ ft. The pavement ends at Kolob Reservoir but a 2wd dirt road continues north over the mountain and into Cedar Canyon.
Not to be confused with the Kolob Terrace Road. This is the northwest section of Zion and in many ways it is isolated from the rest of the Park. This road is accessed off of interstate 15 just south of Cedar City UT. From Springdale travel time is 1.25 hours each way. The Kolob Canyons feature gigantic red sandstone walls, just driving in on the 8 mile road is worth it especially at sunset.
